For standard body lotion, the lotion pump bottle is often the first route to evaluate
A standard lotion pump bottle draws product through a dip tube and can cover a broad range of body-care capacities. It is a practical starting point when the formula dispenses reliably through the selected pump and the bottle remains stable under normal actuation.

A tube is a different dispensing route, not a bottle with another cap
A cosmetic tube uses a flexible body that is squeezed to move product toward its outlet. For body lotion projects, tube choice depends on formula flow, tube diameter, material direction, cap or outlet and tail sealing.
LumLun currently lists body-lotion tube directions such as an 80–125ml PE or sugarcane-PE flip-top tube, alongside other PE/PCR/sugarcane-PE tube models. The tube route is real, but it should be selected because squeeze dispensing fits the product—not simply because the pack looks compact.
Airless belongs in the route map when the project actually needs an airless system
An airless bottle uses a different dispensing architecture from a standard dip-tube lotion pump. Common piston-style models move product upward as it is dispensed, while other airless constructions may use different internal arrangements.
Airless does not automatically mean oxygen-free, leak-proof or longer shelf life. The selected complete pack and finished formula still need appropriate compatibility and performance checks. Formula flow helps eliminate the wrong formats
A body lotion that flows easily through a standard pump may not need a more complex dispensing system. A thicker body cream may require a pump with another flow path, a larger tube outlet or a different package format.
There is no single viscosity number that decides every package. The selected pump, tube opening or airless flow path has its own geometry, so a filled sample is more useful than a generic claim that a format “works for lotion”.

Target dose matters most when a pump is used
For pump packaging, output per stroke belongs to the actual pump model. A body lotion used over a larger area may need a different target amount than a concentrated facial product, but that does not create one universal body-lotion pump dose.

A standard lotion bottle may be available in PE, PET, PETG or glass depending on the model. Cosmetic tubes may use PE, sugarcane-based PE or PE with PCR in LumLun’s current range. Airless bottles use their own model-specific combinations such as PP, PETG, AS or acrylic outer structures.
The word body lotion does not determine one material. The material has to belong to the actual format, model, component set, decoration process and compatibility requirement.
Closure and lock requirements can change the route
Standard lotion pump bottles may use lockable or twist-lock pumps. Tubes may use flip-top, screw-cap or other confirmed closures. Airless bottles may use overcaps, twist locks or integrated actuator designs.
If transport security or accidental actuation is a real concern, check it on the selected complete pack. A closure name by itself does not prove the finished package is leak-proof.
Choose the packaging structure before decoration
Starting with color, finish or shelf appearance can hide more important decisions. A visually attractive bottle can still be the wrong choice if the formula does not dispense correctly or the pump and neck do not match.
The practical order is structure first, decoration second. Once the package works, color, printing and finish can be approved within the selected model’s real process options.

Existing model first keeps the project grounded in real packaging
A reference image can be useful even before all specifications are known. It can show whether the project is closer to a pump bottle, squeeze tube or airless system and communicate the desired overall proportion.
The fastest route is usually to identify the closest existing model, then confirm capacity, material, components and decoration on that structure. Use a reference image to identify the real dispensing mechanism
A pump head can look similar on two very different packages. A photograph may not show whether there is a dip tube, piston, inner bottle or another internal system.
Reference matching should separate visible design from the real dispensing structure. The supplier can then identify which existing model actually corresponds to the requested format.
Filled samples answer questions that empty packaging cannot
An empty sample is useful for checking size, shape, closure and general actuator feel. A filled sample is more useful for formula flow, priming, output, residue, leakage behavior and package stability.
A product link, reference image or simple packaging direction is enough to begin. Detailed filled-sample work makes sense after one or two realistic packaging directions have been selected.
Standard pump, tube and airless have different filling routes
A standard pump bottle is usually filled as a bottle and then assembled with its pump. A tube is typically filled through the open tail and then sealed. Airless filling depends on the specific piston, inner-bottle, bag or pump construction.
The filler needs the actual pack specification. This is another reason to choose the packaging format before finalizing artwork or secondary packaging.
Secondary packaging should follow the assembled primary pack
Carton and insert dimensions depend on the complete package: bottle or tube body, pump, cap, overcap and assembled height. A tall pump bottle and a short wide tube can hold similar amounts but need completely different secondary packaging.
Do not force a package into an outer box that does not match the real actuator, tail seal or bottle geometry.
Use the product type only as a starting point
The label body lotion tells you the application category, but not the exact viscosity, output requirement, material or filling method. Two body lotions can need different pumps or even different packaging formats.
The route map should narrow options, not replace final model validation. Formula-specific decisions belong to the selected bottle, tube or airless pack.

Keep the route simple when the formula is still being finalized
If final viscosity or fill volume is still moving, the project can still narrow the packaging direction without creating a long technical brief. A reference image and likely product type are enough to identify whether a standard pump bottle, tube or airless family is worth sampling first.
Once formula and target fill are stable, the shortlisted package can be checked in more detail for output, opening, pump behavior, filling and compatibility.
Keep components within one compatible packaging structure
A flip-top tube, a lockable lotion pump and an airless actuator solve different structural tasks. A reference may combine visible details that belong to different packages, but the final specification must use components that physically belong to one real model.
If a required closure or actuator is not available on the closest model, compare another existing package before discussing new tooling.
Keep the approved format traceable into production
The final order should identify the exact bottle, tube or airless model and its main components. A later substitution that looks similar can change the outlet, pump, filling method or assembled dimensions.
If a component or packaging format changes after the filled sample is approved, review the new combination again before production, including filling, dispensing, artwork and secondary-packaging fit.
Offer, sample and production order should name the same format and model
A body-lotion project should remain traceable from quotation to sample approval and production. The exact bottle, tube or airless model and its main dispenser or closure components should stay consistent in those records.
This makes later substitutions visible instead of treating two visually similar packages as automatically equivalent.

- Confirm that the product is a lotion or emulsion and note its real flow behavior.

- Shortlist real models in the required capacity range.
